The other day while perusing some of the challenge blogs I came upon this challenge,
Christmas Leftovers on the
Our Creative Corner blog. Christmas leftovers, oh yes, a few boxes of leftover paper and bows. So I grabbed a box from the Christmas tealights that was in recycling, terrible picture, but I had been looking at it the day before thinking it would hold sets of cards for gifts.
I grabbed some gold paper and covered the box with it. I took some black cardstock and ran it through my Stampin Up Embossing folder Fancy Fan and added to the top and bottom edges, using the SU Adorning Accents to cut the piece on the back top. I used a Script Star Bits stencil from Balzer Designs and Barn Door Distress Inks on the back. No matter how I took the photo, it doesn't show that well. On the front I used a SU Decorative Masks Hearts, mixing gesso with red paint and painted the hearts. This part was something totally out of my comfort zone and new. I guess I need to get some stencil paste soon and play with it. These boxes will fit cards and envelopes in them for gifts.
I wasn't too impressed with my first one, so I grabbed a fancier one. This tealight box had pink and white stripes. I grabbed a doily and ribbon left over from Christmas and headed into the craft room. I covered the writing on one side with a piece of white cardstock that I colored with Blush CTMH ink, then added a strip of Doodlebug Lily White Swiss Dot washi tape that I got from my favorite online scrapbooking company,
Willow Paper and Tools (plug for my sweet cousin Heather) Used my Spellbinders Lattice Rectangle, added the white blush colored cardstock and stamped the For You from Lawn Fawn and then grabbed some flowers I had and colored them with the blush ink, added a button brad. Some SU butterflies and some white gems. Put it all together and added the ribbon.
On the back, I used SU Framelits, Label Collection and SU Creatively Yours stamp set sentiment to cover the writing on there. I do like them both now.
